George Baum, senior adviser to the Federal German Health Ministry, will discuss the German health system and reform for the future. In particular he will explore the different approaches to funding, competition and provision of healthcare in Germany:

 

  • What are the advantages of the social insurance model and what are those of the tax funded model?
  • How can the competition essential to improve performance and make for social solidarity be built into a system?
  • What balance needs to be struck between competition and regulation?
