Child poverty in Britain and Germany
Report Launch

Date: 24 January 2002

Location: German Historical Institute, London

  • Is Germany or Britain more effective at protecting children from poverty?
  • What sort of events are likely to trigger movements into and out of poverty?
  • What strategies have improved the situation?

The conference will address these and other questions, reporting the findings of a bilateral research project which has examined patterns and trends in child poverty in the two countries. The principal speaker at the conference will be Professor Stephen P. Jenkins of the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex, who led the research.
